Worth every penny

As much as I love using a rotary cutter there are times it is better to use a scissors. The Kai scissors are the best scissors I have ever owned.

This is a great little machine. Easy pull out and set up. Love this sewing machine. They really shouldn't of discontinued this product. It's performance is outstanding with 18 different stitches. Has all that you really could ask for in a lightweight machine.

Simple but great!

I love my machine. I have had it 20 years and it still does everything I need it to do. I just do "normal" sewing, though. No super thick fabrics.

#1 machine: the Juki TL 98Q

I purchased this machine in 2008 for quilting and still think it's the most amazing dream machine. I love the large extension table, needle up/down, the knee lift and the fast bobbin winding. The extra width and height to the right of the needle makes quilting very easy. The machine sews very fast with excellent stitches and is so easy to use. As a novice sewer the ease of using read more my Juki boosted my confidence and helped me to keep working on my skill level. The occasional problems I had came from me learning to adjust tension, bad thread choice and old needles. The only downside is the bobbin. The space it goes in is very small and although I have little hands it is still difficult to insert the bobbin.I have been diligent with cleaning and oiling so my baby has never gone to the repair shop to be serviced. (I'd rather give them my husband)I can see this being the only machine a person would need for a lifetime. If I wasn't retired I would purchase a second one of this model!

Singer mod 2662

I love this machine. I have owned mine for several years. The manual has a lot to be desired. It does not advise as to bobbin size for replacements nor does it give any detail on the stitch variety. It is a trial and error to get what you want. The machine is very smooth and adjustments are easy to adjust for various materials and threads. I would recommend this machine to any mid read more level seamstress or crafter. It will sew through denim seams. Mine came with the excess material sheer as well.

It's Operator Error

I just want to say to the people complaining about the bobbin that it is usually operator error and not the machine. You will hear this all the time from beginners. What you need to do first is make sure the bobbin is wound tight and not mushy or the thread will sneak out around the edge and cause a big problem. It's NOT the tension. Also when the thread "balls up" on the bottom read more of your fabric it's NOT the bobbin thread or tension. It's the TOP thread that isn't properly threaded. ALWAYS keep your presser foot UP when threading the machine so that the thread gets between the tension discs. When the presser foot goes down the discs close and there is now tension on the top thread. In 20 years of sewing I've only had to adjust the tension maybe 10 times due to the tricky fabric. When you buy a new machine the tension is ALREADY set for you. Don't fool with it! Please try the above things and see if your machine doesn't work perfectly! (I know these are old reviews but maybe someone buying a new machine will read this and give this machine a chance!)

The Singer quantum 9920

I have had this machine for 10 years. I do many types of sewing. Quilting to garment to crafts. I have never had a problem..the only issue I had was I couldn't get the self threader to work. I finally gave up. Well when I took it in for cleaning and maintenance they told me it didn't have the threader attachment on, so I got one and it works great. I don't think I was charged read more for it. Glad I have it.

Vista and Singer Quantum XL-6000

This machine's software works great with Vista. I began using my machine with windows XP and had to get a new computer and am now using Windows Vista with my machine. I made the switch 3 years ago and do not have issues with it. We have a wonderful Singer Sewing Center in Austin that helped with the conversion over to the new operating system. I had one or two issues with some read more embroidery, but it was my error. I LOVE my machine.

Love this Machine!

I love, love, love this machine!! I purchased this machine around the end of 2009. It is still going strong! I love the speed and control of this machine. And the foot control with the thread cutter is fabulous! I can go from one piece of fabric to the next without ever having to touch my thread snippers! The knee lifter is another feature I couldn't live without, as well read more as the needle up/needle down feature. I sew my own clothing and this machine's speed helps me accomplish so much more in a short amount of time. It's easy to oil and thread, although I cannot figure out the auto-threader. For years I wanted an industrial machine because of the speed, but didn't want the motor noise they produce and didn't know if anyone could carry it upstairs to my sewing room. Then there was maintenance issue; who would come to my house if I had a problem with it? This machine can easily go to the repair shop if needed. But I've never had a problem with it. It arrived packed nicely in the box. I like the large table that came with it as well. The machine is very well made and sews beautifully. I have two other Swiss machines (beginning with "B") and they don't compare to the strength of my Juki - and they cost much, much more. In fact, the computerized one is packed away in the closet. This is a fantastic machine at a very good price.

I have had this machine for seven years. Never a problem. I use Embird software and it works like a charm. Most problems are user error. Read the book and keep it cleaned and oiled. The perfect machine for me.

I wanted a sturdy, mechanical machine with a large work space. Imagine how delighted I am at the extra convenient features of the presser foot knee lever and the automatic thread cutter. No more pulling the threads back and holding them in place to prevent a thread jam.I love my machine!!

Sewing mom

I see posts about the automatic threader - another thing to watch is that you are only pressing it from the top. I have had my machine for 2 years now and never had a bit of trouble from the threader. This machine is not like any other sewing machine that you can figure out the threading - it is a definite must read the instructions kind of machine.

JANOME AQS2009

I am so pleased with this little lightweight portable. Its perfect for taking to classes and when you want to sew elsewhere other than at home. I own 2 other Janome machines that I have had for about 5 years (the 6500 and 300E). I recently spoke to a sewing machine repairman who felt they were the best on the market. There was no question that I would buy another Janome since read more I know how they work and have been so happy with the other two I own.

Janome AQS-2009 - American Quilter's Society 25th Anniversary Machine

I've been quilting now for six years. And through the years I've seen quilting friends using the Janome machines and heard them rave about them: they are lightweight, very quiet, easy to use, great features, etc. One Sunday morning my Pfaff quit on me and I was desperate for a machine (way too many unfinished projects). Juki TL98

I saw one at a quilting class and it was lust at first sight. A friend wanted a machine for piecing and quilting and I recommended it. I borrowed his to test drive and bought one for myself. It's strong, it's quiet, it's needed only one repair in six years (but I do have it serviced annually.) The one thing that could be improved is bobbin capacity. New from SewingMachinesPlus the read more bobbin would only fill 2/3. My local machine guy reset some chip inside the top and now my bobbins fill completely. I recommend it for anyone getting into quilting--as much for what it doesn't do as for what it does do. No starting a seam and having to rip out zigzag, no accidentally pressing a function button. It comes with the presser feet I use everyday. And it's affordable.
