Comfy, but poor quality control (damaged wood)

These chairs are comfortable and easy to put together. However, the wood pieces were pretty damaged. One has a split, and three have fairly deep nicks in the them with some splinters. It was packed well, so this happened in the factory, not in shipping. For $400, that's pretty sad quality, but it would be a pain to send this back, so I will live with it.
